Upper: 100% full-grain leather from Saigon Tantec, a gold-certified tannery.

  • ISA Tantec claims to strive for LITE(Low Impact to Environment) and prevent pollution by improving their environmental management system and complying with environmental regulations. They also claim that they follow the UN Global Compact.

Sole: A blend of natural and recycled rubber that’s 94.2% free of virgin plastic.

  • natural rubber is eco-friendly since harvesting and using it has little impact on the environment. It is also biodegradable, which means it can be recycled.
  • Recycled rubber is made of scrap materials such as used tires. The recycling process involves two steps. First, the used materials need to be cleaned and cut into small pieces. Second, they will be processed into finer materials to be re-used.

100% recycled polyester lining.

  • polyester is not eco-friendly since its production involves huge amount of water, chemicals and fossil fuels. The raw materials and by-products are toxic, which can pollute our natural environment.
  • recycled polyester uses PET as the raw material, which is the same material for making clear plastic water bottles. This process takes 35% -55% less energy than making regular polyester. It also requires less petroleum and uses plastic bottles, which minimizes landfills.

  • Native Energy claims that their certification is genuine and involves three steps. In the first step, Experts from Native Energy conduct a background check to make sure that the company is meeting the requirement. Next, they invite experts from a third-party to evaluate whether the company is using reliable methods for carbon reduction. Lastly, when the reduction of greenhouse gas is verified, they review the data of the energy flow to determine carbon offset.
